Deforestation has significantly contributed to carbon emissions and still continues to be a critical factor especially in Indonesia where peat lands are logged, drianed burned then converted to palm oil. By supporting rehabilitation of degraded tropical forests you can help to sequester atmospheric carbon and at the same time provide habitat to threatened wildlife species such as Orangutan, Elephants, Sun Bears, Clouded Leopards, Tigers, Sumatran Rhinoceros and a host of other species.

FOREST MANAGERS - Project Development and Technical Support
GFS provides direct technical support for forestry & plantation management generate carbon credits through sequestration by & avoided deforestation that can be used to offset emissions to become Carbon Neutral and fight Global Warming. GFS identifies carbon projects within forests participating in the GFS FSP that have been degraded by previous logging companies or slash & burn agriculture.
The GFS CCSP for development of forestry carbon projects consists of 4 main phases:

CARBON NEUTRAL - Individuals and Companies
Become Carbon Neutral with Forestry Offset Projects
GFS has established a Carbon Forestry Voluntary Fund to allow individuals, small businesses, factories and large companies to contribute in reforestation of degraded forests or REDD areas within established carbon projects in forests participating in the Forestry Support Program. This enables participating investors to offset their emissions through Verified Emission Reductions (VERs) that will be certified under the CCB standard within forests working to attain FSC certification.
GFS issues a Registration Number and a Certificate of Participation to each individual or company that contributes to support restoration of degraded tropical forests within in selected carbon projects under the Forestry Support Program or fully certified.

FOREST INVESTMENT AND CARBON CREDITS
Concept of Investment in Rehabilitation
GFS is devoted to support commercial investment combined with carbon offsets through rehabilitation of tropical forests. GFS concept is that investment in rehabilitation of tropical forests can offer a sound long term investment based on growing asset value of a valuable depleting resource that will support the fight against clime change by sequestering atmospheric carbon as well as provide environmental services such as habitat for wildlife and watershed to local communities. By investing in rehabilitation of tropical forests you can obtain a growing forest asset as well as carbon credits that can be sold to offset emissions.
Green (environmentally responsible) investment by companies / organizations interested in the financial returns from the value generated by carbon & forest resources as a long-term investment over the project cycle. The forest value will grow exponentially following the first 5 years after establishment to reach an initial stumpage value at 20 years followed by income from sustainable harvest yields. During the establishment phase the forest will generate carbon credits that can be used as offsets or sold in the market such as the Chicago Carbon Exchange (CCX).
