Stepwise Approach for Forest Managers to meet FSC Certification
Forestry Support Program (FSP) is designed to provide a formal stepwise approach for forestry companies to meet requirements for certification under Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) that can work in conjunction with the CCSP.
GFS also provides - Log Tracking Services - as a technical system for tracking logs from the stump using barcode and other technology and computer database system in conjunction with operational management planning. |

Help save the rainforests & become carbon neutral
The accumulation of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere from the industrial revolution has been far greater than the plants, soils and oceans of the world have been able to absorb. The use of fossil fuels and conversion of forest land to agriculture have caused the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to increase by about 30%, trapping radiation and contributing to global warming and changing climate.
The IPCC reports that “deforestation and land-clearing activities contributed about a fifth of the greenhouse gas emissions (1.7 Gt Carbon/yr) during the 1990s with most being from deforestation of tropical forest regions.” (IPCC technical paper; Climate Change & Biodiversity; April 2002).
Planting trees and rehabilitating degraded forests, can significantly help to sequester more carbon and provide an effective way of combating climate change, buying time to develop new technologies to produce energy without such high rates of emissions of greenhouse gases.
GFS hasestablished the Carbon Credit Support Program (CCSP) to support the fight against Climate Change & Global Warming by helping to restore degraded tropical forests, protect wildlife habitat and support local communities. The CCSP can be used to generate carbon credits from reforestation of degraded tropical rain forests and Offset Carbon Emissions to become Carbon Neutral.
TRAINING & SUPPORT

Chain of Custody Training
GFS provides technical training for wood processing and trading companies to develop chain of custody (COC) systems with formal procedures and standard forms to identify material and trace production based on environmental status to meet FSC and PEFC standards.
GFS conducts intensive training on COC requirements for each certification standard and supports the company to establish formalized procedures for all key activities related to their system that can include: purchasing, receiving, storage, production planning, production control, sales and administration. |
Do you know where the wood in your products comes from ?
GFS Wood Tracking Program is a formal chain of custody system for traceability of wood products through processing & trade based on environmental status (verified legal origin - VLO; legal compliance VLC; in progress / controlled wood; certified & carbon storage)
Legal Verification Services - has been established as an integral part of the Wood Tracking Program to confirm the legal origin (VLO) of raw material from high risk forest areas determined through a formal supplier evaluation system.
Supply Chain Services - developed for retail & trading companies to support strategies for development of a full chain of custody system across their supply chains to ensure wood products are traceable to legal sources that can meet FLEGT requirements
